(CNN) — One hundred families are seeking money from General Motors after losing loved ones in car accidents.
A consultant in charge of GM's compensation fund said the auto maker has received 100 death claims following its massive recall.
GM has pledged to pay victims injured or killed as a result of a defect affecting 2.6 million cars.
It can cause the vehicle to shut off unexpectedly, disabling airbags.
Officials have admitted that the company made mistakes, leading to a decade-long delay in issuing a recall for the affected vehicles.
The company has also received 184 injury claims.
Victims and their families have until December 31st to file a claim with General Motors.
