For the fourth consecutive year, an increasing number of Americans will brave the highways this holiday season. Triple A expects more than 93 million people will travel more than 50 miles and most of them will travel by car. Nationally, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline is down about twelve cents from a month ago. Triple A predicts those prices will keep dropping. But the money saved in gas will likely get spent on other travel related costs, like car rentals. The trend doesn't seem to be impacting consumers demand to spread a little holiday cheer away from home this year. Triple A says median spending on holiday travel is also expected to increase this year by about six percent. They recommend planning ahead this holiday season by taking advantage of smart phone applications that assist with travel.
