Houston — Saying he is "deeply grateful", President George H.W. Bush will sleep in his own bed tonight after weeks as a patient at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Mr. Bush, 88, got treatment for a coiugh abd other symptoms of bronchitis.
"Let me add just how touched we were by the many get-well messages we received from our friends and fellow Americans," the Presdient said through a statement.. "Your prayers and good wishes helped more than you know, and as I head home my only concern is that I will not be able to thank each of you for your kind words."
At one point the Presdient was listed in "guarded condition" at Methodist, where he checked in on November 23. But he showed rapid improvement as tghe page turned on the new year.
