LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A man in Las Cruces is under arrest for trying to kidnap his ex-girlfriend Monday afternoon.
Police said David Pena, 23, tried to force the 19-year-old woman into his car as she left work.
According to police, the woman was on the phone with a police officer at the time of the attempted kidnapping.
The officer was following up on a restraining order she had filed against Pena on Friday.
LCPD said Pena took off when the woman began screaming and her co-workers came to help.
Pena was found and is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
