New Mexico state police have filed additional criminal charges against a border consultant hired by the city of Sunland Park. The criminal charges are for embezzlement, and stem from a March 2011 contract between Annette Morales of Medius Inc. and the city of Sunland Park. Morales was hired to provide the strategic framework for the border crossing. Her company collected $458,000 from the city, but the city terminated the contract citing unsatisfactory work performance. New Mexico state police say almost half of the money paid to morales was not within the scope of the contract.
