Chaparral Couple Charged with 115 Counts in Animal Cruelty Case

A Chaparral, New Mexico couple is facing a 115 criminal charges, after 52 cats were seized from their home. The animals were found inside Charles and Sherrie Gonnell's house on Amparo Road. Authorities say most of the animals were severely neglected, and that 21 of the 52 were malnourished and had to be euthanized. Doña Ana County ordinances prohibit anyone from owning more than six animals without a special permit.
