Smartphone sales on the rise

(CNN) — AT-and-T reported record quarterly smartphone sales. The company sold 10-point-two million smartphones in the fourth quarter, which it said was the most ever for a U-S carrier.

Company representatives also say it activated a record eight-point-six million iPhones and it also reported it had its best-ever quarter of sales of Android phones.

Earlier this week, AT-and-T rival Verizon said it sold a record six-point-two million iPhones in the fourth quarter, making up two thirds of its total smartphone sales.
